Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Koalas are surprisingly hard to photograph, but we live near one of the best places to take pictures of them in the world, The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, near Brisbane, Australia. They are more awake and active in the afternoon. This guy was Mr. Personality and made direct eye contact with me. What a cutie.
